Membership is free, and anyone can join the movement by becoming a member of REFORM Alliance to become a REFORMer. As a member, you will stay connected to our legislative campaigns to improve parole and probation systems. Members receive updates on opportunities to get involved, learn about new resources to help navigate supervision and reentry, share their experiences and tell their stories, have access to various volunteer opportunities, and much more. REFORM prioritizes the complementary goals of 1) increasing human dignity and freedom AND 2) increasing public safety and community stability. We do this by focusing on the largest and most misunderstood element of the criminal justice system - community supervision (ak, probation, parole, supervised release, etc.) - to transform counterproductive and punitive monitoring protocols into evidence-based best practices that provide real second chances to those in the criminal legal system while always holding public safety paramount. By becoming a member, you contribute to reshaping the criminal justice landscape and fostering a more equitable society. Sign up here to get involved.
If you have a cause or a deeper desire to take action, you can enlist our REFORM Advocacy Institute (RAI), a comprehensive program designed to empower individuals or help grassroot organizations to drive meaningful change in probation and parole systems, and criminal justice reform. Applications to participate in the next cohort are due on December 2024. Learn more and apply here today. -

Our job fair on October 18 is designed to address Virginia's critical workforce shortage while providing opportunities for individuals who too often encounter barriers to employment due to their involvement with the justice system. While general unemployment in Virginia is down, with only 47 workers for every 100 open positions, our state’s workforce shortage continues to grow. This creates a new challenge in filling Virginia’s 250,000+ available jobs and requires a creative and effective solution. Luckily, there’s a solution that not only answers our workforce shortage but also increases public safety and puts people on a path to lasting redemption and success. Unlike general unemployment, which is down in Virginia, second-change workforces continue to face much higher unemployment rates and difficulties securing positions even with ample training and talent. And, on top of having the numbers and the skills to fill the workforce shortage, stable employment is one of the primary factors for successful reentry, resulting in increased public safety and community prosperity. This job fair has the unique ability to 1) close the workforce shortage, 2) provide employment for talented workers in need of jobs, and 3) increase public safety and prosperity for the entire Commonwealth. Win ✅ Win ✅ Win ✅.

REFORM Alliance has been honored to work with grassroots groups, legislative champions, and leaders across VA since 2020. REFORM helped pass HB 2038, which significantly transformed Virginia's probation system through key changes, including graduated sanctions for minor violations and shorter probation sentences. These reforms aim to reduce incarceration, improve public safety, and enhance opportunities for individuals on probation.
